INFORMATION provided to Rehoboth Beach NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
by Cpl. Detective William L. Sullivan, Rehoboth Beach Police Department

Memo from Detective Sullivan

With the start of June we generally see an influx of "June Bugs" which are the high
school or college age students who generally visit the beach area during this time
of year.  This year we continue to see the increase and we are handling a real influx
of complaints associated with these individuals.

Our Officers have issued several citations for open containers and handle minor
drug arrests involving the younger crowd.   We have noticed that we have had a slight
increase in hit and run accidents involving motor vehicles.  In general, these accidents
are occurring in the evening hours and alcohol is generally suspected.

Officers handled a complaint of graffiti on the Star of The Sea that occurred sometime
Saturday night June 1st into Sunday June 2nd early morning.  If any of our Watchers
observe any of this while they are out walking please make it a point to contact
us so that we can advise the property owners and/or clean it on City property.

Our Seasonal Officers continue to be out an about and maintaining a watchful eye
on activity as well.  One of their assignments includes covering the Grove Park
area during the 2013 Farmer's Market on Tuesdays.

We always encourage our Watcher's to report any suspicious activity, no matter how
big or small they may think it is.   As always we thank you for your support and
look forward to hearing from you.

A Note from Rehoboth Beach NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

The (statistical) signs of summer are here.  Note the almost 50% increase in number
of complaints and criminal arrests from last week to the preceding week!  As usual,
we ask all Watchers to be observant and report anything suspicious to the police
department in a timely manner, as well as to take security precautions by locking
    doors, windows, bicycles, cars, etc.
